Come & Get Your Love - Redbone

Come And Get Your Love   -  Redbone
G  A  D  Bm   over and over
See Redbone perform it here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvqMvxdZTVE
The thing to do on this one is just start playing the chords, and practice out the timing on the music/lyrics.  It's a fun song if you get the party to sing the 2nd heys and the chorus.

Hey (hey)     What's the matter with your head?  yeah...
Hey (hey)     What's the matter with your mind and your sign?
 And-A ooh-oh

Hey (    hey)     Nothin's a matter with your head, baby,
Find it, come on and find it.
H-el-l, with it, baby, 'cause you're fine and you're mine
And you look so divine

Chorus:
Come and get your love, Come and get your love, Come and get your  love now
Come and get your love, Come and get your love, Come and get your love now

Hey (    hey)   What's the matter with your feel right?
Don't you feel right, baby?
Hey,….. oh, yeah,
Get it from the main line, alright

I said-a find it,  find it, darling,
love it If you like it, yeah-eh
Hey (    hey) It's your business if you want some
Take some,     get it together, baby

Chorus

SINGIN' IN THE DARK - BROOKS WILLIAMS

SINGIN' IN THE DARK - BROOKS WILLIAMS
I don't know if you've heard brooks yet, but he is a master guitarist, living in the Noho area to the best of my knowledge.  I LOVE many of his songs, but they are not in my key, so I can't really sing along, and I can't hold a candle to his talent and mastery.  But that has not stopped me from dumbing down his music so that I can play and sing some.
You can watch Mark Carter play the song here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D11R-XiFao
(Nice Job Mark : )

Capo 2nd fret

Em                D              Am              C

SWEET BABY JAMES, JAMES TAYLOR

This is a special song for me.  I used to sing it to my grandson, Anthony James, and put his name into the chorus when he was young.  When he was 7, one time he laid himself across my lap, and grinned, and said Gramma, sing the song.  And he closed his eyes, still grinning.

MILO GREENE, 1957

1957 BY MILO GREENE
Album:  Milo Greene
I use a capo on the 2nd fret for this song.  I have also not included the I’ll go, I’ll go part, because you need the vocals happening to get back into the song.  You can see them do this song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUazz0gML00
Again, as one voice singing, you don’t need to get into every chord available because you don’t have harmonies to be concerned with.  So this is a usable diagram for one person to sing.  That is my goal when posting songs here, that you can easily print out a nice selection of beautiful songs that are easy to play and sing to.

READING GUITAR TAB

Notating chords in tab:

I have heard from some people that they can't read tab and so I'd like to give an easy explanation, because if I have unusual chords here, I will indicate them in tab form.

So the easiest way to explain it, is to use a chord everybody knows.  Lets use D.

You have 6 strings on your guitar.  Tab notations begin with the lowest string.  If you were to stand your guitar up, and look at where your fingers are placed to make a D chord,  Starting with the lowest string, there is no finger there so it's a 0.  No finger on the next string, so 0.  No finger on the next, so again, 0.
Then on the next string you have a finger on the 2nd fret, so 2.  The string over, finger on 3rd fret equals a 3, and on the highest string, finger on the 2nd fret equals a 2.  So D, written in tab is 000232.    Honestly, this is just SO much easier than making little graphs with dots, which are very hard to type.

HEADLOCK - IMOGEN HEAP

HEADLOCK - IMOGEN HEAP
CAPO 3RD FRET if you're comfortable in the key I use.
You can put her in at youtube, and pull up this song, but I highly recommend you
watch here also:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViKKY_pM9rQ
Lennon & Maisey are wonderful, but can sing in a much higher range than I find comfortable.  This is easier on my voice and still allows some creativity.  Again, this one is not old, but I do love it.

Dm                          Bb
Distant Flickerings, It’s greener scenery
Dm                                    C
This weathers bringing it, all back again.
Dm                      Bb
Great adventures, faces in condensation
Dm                             C
I’m going outside, to take it all in.

Chorus:
Dm                                C
You say it’s too late to start
(V. 2 = You’re afraid to start)
                                  G
Got your heart in a headlock

I don’t believe any of it.
Dm                                 C
You say it’s too late to start
                                G
Got your heart in a headlock
C                           G              Dm
You know you’re better than this

Verse 2
Dm                              Bb
Wear a different pair, Just something out of step
Dm                           C
Throw a stranger an unexpected smile
Dm                           Bb
With big intention, still posted at your station
Dm                             C
Always on about the day it should have flied

Chorus:
               Dm                              Bb
Bridge:  You’ve been walking, You’ve been hiding
Dm                        C
You look half dead half the time
Dm                     Bb
Monitoring you, like machines do
Dm                                      C
You’ve still got it, I’m just keeping an eye     (2x)

Chorus:

Ah….verse.
